The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has issued a strong rebuttal to viral social media reports alleging the defection of a former National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Official Statement Dismisses Defection Claims
In a statement released on Thursday, January 9, 2026, in Lafia, the party categorically labeled the reports as false, misleading, and baseless. The clarification was provided by the APC State Organising Secretary, Hassan Abubakar, who also coordinates the party's ongoing e-membership registration exercise in the state.
Abubakar stated unequivocally, "For the avoidance of doubt, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, at no time, defected, contemplated defection, or associated himself with any other political party." The party insisted that the former Governor of Nasarawa State remains a loyal and card-carrying member of the APC.
Photograph Clarification: Evidence of Loyalty, Not Defection
The party addressed the specific photograph circulating online, which was purportedly used as evidence of the alleged defection. Abubakar explained that the image was actually captured during the APC's nationwide e-membership registration and revalidation exercise.
He emphasized that the program is designed to strengthen the party's internal database and promote democracy. "The image clearly shows Senator Abdullahi Adamu revalidating his APC membership in line with the party’s constitutional processes and reform agenda," Abubakar noted.
