The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially denied the authenticity of a viral list circulating on social media and some online platforms, which purportedly contains the party's concluded list of senatorial candidates for the 2027 general elections. In a statement released on Thursday, June 4, 2026, the party's National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the list as entirely fake and not originating from the APC.
APC Spokesperson Urges Disregard for Fake List
Morka called on party members, the media, and the general public to disregard the viral list, emphasizing that it was designed to create confusion and mislead the public. He further urged stakeholders to cease sharing the list, as it undermines the party's internal processes and causes unnecessary speculation.
Only NWC Authorized to Announce Candidates
The statement reiterated that only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, through its duly authorized communication channels, is empowered to announce the list of candidates emerging from primary elections and other constitutionally prescribed processes. The party stressed that any list not emanating from the NWC should be treated as fake.
Meanwhile, following the APC primaries, several sitting senators will not be returning to the Senate for the 11th National Assembly. These include Senator Gbenga Daniel (Ogun State), Diket Plang (Plateau Central), Osita Izunaso (Imo West), Emmanuel Udende and Titus Zam (Benue North-East and Benue West), Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), Salisu Mustapha (Kwara), and Ned Nwoko (Delta North). Some of these senators either withdrew from the primaries or stepped down.
Public Reactions to APC's Denial
The party's denial has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians. Saidu Abdulmuhmin questioned the delay in announcing primary results, asking why the party kept results for over two weeks without declaring winners. Esther of Deeper Life alleged that some influencers and media personalities are trying to tarnish the APC's reputation for personal gain. Dahiru Ibrahim threatened that voters in Zamfara North would vote against the APC if justice is not done for Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, claiming imposition of candidates. Alhaji Mobola Ajagbe lamented that the APC prioritizes politics over the security of citizens, noting that innocent Nigerians are being killed daily by bandits and kidnappers while the government takes little action.
