A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Honourable Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has expressed confidence that the party's recent electoral victory in Ekiti State will be replicated in the upcoming Osun governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
Oyintiloye, a former representative of Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, made the remarks on Sunday while reacting to the gubernatorial poll in Ekiti, where Governor Biodun Oyebanji secured a decisive win. He described the Ekiti result as a vivid endorsement of Oyebanji's performance, noting that the administration had remained focused on development, inclusiveness, and the welfare of citizens.
Ekiti Victory Signals APC Popularity
In a statement forwarded to journalists, Oyintiloye contended that the APC's win in Ekiti signalled the party's growing popularity across the region. He expressed optimism that the party would secure an even more decisive victory during the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
He lauded the party's National Working Committee (NWC), led by its chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and the national secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, for providing strategic leadership, which he observed had strengthened the party nationwide.
Unity and Grassroots Engagement Key
According to Oyintiloye, the Ekiti governorship poll result demonstrated that when a party is united, focused, and committed to grassroots engagement, victory becomes very easy. He described the outcome as a clear lesson for Osun that teamwork, dedication, and collective responsibility are indispensable for electoral success.
He also expressed confidence that the people of Osun would replicate the Ekiti outcome by electing Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji as the next governor of the state on August 15, 2026.
APC Ready for Osun Election
Oyintiloye stated that the victory secured by the APC in Ekiti would be replicated in Osun, emphasizing that the party is widely accepted by the people. He described the Ekiti result as a clear signal to the ruling party in Osun to brace for defeat.
He concluded: “We are ready. We have waited long enough, and by August 15, the victory recorded in Ekiti will be replicated in Osun, and the state will return to progressive leadership.”
