A former Secretary to the State Government in Bauchi State under Governor Bala Mohammed, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election.
Kashim, popularly known as Muqaddas, became the consensus candidate and was reaffirmed by the electoral committee led by Mr. Paul Daniel on Friday.
Speaking immediately after his affirmation, Kashim commended the party's stakeholders for giving him the mandate and trust to lead.
Acceptance Speech
“I stand here to formally accept the nomination to contest for the office of Governor of Bauchi State in the 2027 elections under the banner of the NDC. I thank the leadership of our party, our party loyalists, and every supporter who has shown confidence in me.
“This honour is not mine alone; it belongs to every young person searching for opportunity, every farmer striving to make a living, every mother hoping for a better future for her children, and every community yearning for development,” he said.
According to him, Bauchi State is richly blessed, from the “fertile lands of Katagum to the vibrant communities of Bauchi Central and the resilient spirit of Bauchi South; we have everything it takes to succeed.”
Challenges Facing Bauchi
He noted that too many of the people are struggling. “Our youths are eager to work but lack opportunities. Our farmers work hard but earn too little. Our schools exist, but many do not equip our children for the future.
“Our hospitals serve our people, but often without adequate resources. Our roads, water systems, and infrastructure still leave many communities behind. This is not the Bauchi we deserve. But I stand before you with conviction—this is not the Bauchi we must accept.
Vision for the Future
“My vision is clear: to build a united, prosperous, and inclusive Bauchi State where government truly serves the people. If given your mandate, our administration under the NDC will focus on practical, people-centered transformation,” he pledged.
