Folarin Calls for Full-Scale Investigation into Ogbomoso Rally Incident
Senator Teslim Folarin, a prominent Oyo State political figure, has formally requested a comprehensive investigation into serious allegations emerging from a recent political rally. The former Senate Leader and head of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Oyo State is responding to claims that a commercial motorcyclist was shot during the All Progressives Congress (APC) unity rally held in Ogbomoso on Monday, 6 January 2026.
In a strong statement, Senator Folarin categorically denied any tolerance for violence within the party's ranks. He emphasized that neither the APC, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, nor the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu condones lawlessness or misconduct during political activities. The rally was part of the party's mobilisation efforts ahead of the crucial 2027 general elections.
Contradiction Between Reports and Official Accounts
Folarin described the Ogbomoso event as peaceful and orderly, stating that organisers and security agencies recorded no official incident of violence at the venue. "The APC unity rally in Ogbomoso was peacefully conducted and successfully concluded. There was no report of violence or crisis from the organisers or security agencies at the event," he asserted.
However, acknowledging the severe nature of the circulating allegations, the senator revealed he has taken proactive steps. He has formally requested relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the reported shooting and establish the factual sequence of events.
Folarin set a clear precedent for accountability, stressing that any individual found culpable must face legal consequences, irrespective of their status or political affiliation. "Criminality has no place in the APC, its activities or Nigeria’s democratic process. Anyone found culpable must face the full weight of the law," he declared.
Commitment to Democratic Values and Rule of Law
The senator elaborated on the core purpose of APC unity rallies, which are designed to foster peace, unity, and democratic participation—not intimidation or violence.
