Lagos Group Backs Tinubu, Endorses Hamzat for 2027

The Lagos State chapter of the Renewed Hope Labourers Network (RHLN) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office. Additionally, the group has declared Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state. This endorsement was announced in a statement released on Thursday, signed by the group's Lagos coordinator, John Folarin Odusote, following extensive consultations across its membership base.

Rationale Behind the Endorsement

According to the group, its position is firmly anchored on the need for continuity in governance, particularly as ongoing reforms at the federal level continue to take shape. The statement highlighted that the administration of President Tinubu has embarked on significant economic restructuring, infrastructure development, and institutional reforms that require sustained leadership to deliver long-term results.

“We believe that the ongoing reforms at the federal level need time, consistency and political will to yield their full benefits,” the group stated. It further emphasized that policy continuity would help maintain stability and ensure coherence in governance across all sectors.

Support for Obafemi Hamzat

On the subject of Lagos politics, the group described Hamzat as a “quiet achiever” with a strong grasp of governance and policy implementation. His experience in public service, particularly in areas such as infrastructure and digital governance, positions him as the ideal candidate to lead the state through its next phase of development. The group argued that Lagos, as a rapidly expanding megacity, requires leadership that can build on existing structures without disrupting ongoing initiatives.

The RHLN also acknowledged the role of Abiodun Faleke, identified as its grand patron, describing him as a key figure in the group's mobilization efforts. His support has strengthened the group's engagement across the state and reinforced its focus on governance aligned with development objectives.

Plans for Grassroots Mobilization

The group announced plans to commence grassroots mobilization across Lagos in support of its endorsed candidates ahead of the 2027 general election. It called on residents of the state and Nigerians more broadly to support what it described as a continuity-driven approach to governance.

“As a network committed to national progress, we are confident that this leadership combination will deliver greater stability and development,” the statement concluded.
