NDC Constitutes 20-Member Committee for 2026 Primaries

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has established a 20-member National Selection Committee tasked with reviewing and approving aspirants for the party's upcoming governorship and National Assembly primaries.

Committee Formation

According to a statement from the party's National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the committee was approved by the National Leader based on recommendations from the National Working Committee (NWC).

Responsibilities

The committee will examine reports from the National Screening Committee and make final decisions on clearing aspirants who wish to contest under the NDC platform. Only candidates cleared by both committees will be eligible to purchase nomination forms.

Committee Membership

The committee is chaired by Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe and includes prominent figures such as Buba Galadima, Udenta Udenta, Yenusa Tanko, and Aminu Abdulsalam, among others.

Primary Elections Timeline

The NDC stated that if consensus arrangements fail, direct primaries will be conducted from May 28 to 30, 2026, in accordance with party guidelines. The committee is expected to be formally inaugurated on May 25, 2026, before commencing its duties.
