Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on residents of the state to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, citing what he described as a strong familial and political bond between the President and Delta State through the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Governor Highlights Familial Ties
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the governor said President Tinubu enjoys a unique relationship with Delta State and deserves the backing of its people at the polls. According to Oborevwori, voting against the President would amount to rejecting a member of the extended family, describing Tinubu as an in-law to the state.
Growing Support in Delta
He said Deltans are increasingly identifying with the President, whom he described as “one of their own,” ahead of the next general election. The governor also highlighted the influence of the First Lady, noting that Senator Oluremi Tinubu's connection with the state has further strengthened political support for the President, particularly in parts of Delta South.
Confidence in Ethnic Alignment
Oborevwori expressed confidence that key ethnic groups in the state would align with Tinubu's re-election bid, citing growing acceptance of the administration and the perceived benefits of federal policies.
Defending Economic Reforms
Defending the President's economic reforms, the governor argued that they have increased federal allocations to states, thereby improving their capacity to execute infrastructure and development projects. He noted that Delta State has been able to undertake more projects and meet developmental needs due to improved revenues, insisting that the impact of the reforms is already visible across the country.
The remarks come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as parties and key stakeholders intensify consultations and build alliances nationwide.
