The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has vowed to restore the state's education glory, asserting that no child should be limited by poverty, location, or circumstance. In his message commemorating the 2026 Children's Day, the APC candidate shared his personal life story as a beacon of hope for children growing up in remote communities. He emphasized that his journey from a modest background in Ikire to becoming a leading figure in public service and politics proves that every child in the state deserves the opportunity to dream big and succeed.
Promise of Prosperity Agenda
Oyebamiji further stated that if elected as governor on August 15, 2026, his administration would prioritize the welfare, education, healthcare, and security of children through what he described as “people-focused implementation” of his PROSPERITY agenda. He called on the government to be more deliberate in preparing children for the future by ensuring that competent and passionate individuals are placed in institutions responsible for children's welfare and development.
Foundation Celebrates with 600 Pupils
Meanwhile, the call for better child welfare was echoed during a Children's Day celebration organized by the Margaret Modinat Foundation in Lagos, where over 600 pupils from 10 public schools were hosted. The convener of the foundation, Olanrewaju Osibote, stressed that the future of the nation depends largely on how well children are nurtured and supported today. He emphasized that those entrusted with responsibilities concerning children must genuinely care about their well-being.
Head of Service, Social Mobilisation, Agege Local Council Education Authority, Adenike Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of continually motivating children to remain focused on their education and moral upbringing. She stated that society must invest in children through quality education, mentorship, and encouragement to enable them to emerge as responsible leaders capable of contributing positively to national development.
