Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have officially presented Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli as the party's governorship candidate to President Bola Tinubu. The delegation, headed by former Deputy Governor and APC Chairman Chief Moses Adeyemo, included prominent stakeholders such as former Deputy Governor Chief Iyiola Oladokun and former Senator Ayoade Adeseun. Others present were Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, APC National Deputy Auditor; Mr. Gbenga Olayemi; and Mr. Soji Adedeji, among other party chieftains.
Senatorial Candidates Also Presented
During the visit, the APC leadership also introduced the party's senatorial candidates for the 2027 electoral cycle to the President, emphasizing unity and readiness. The candidates presented include Engr. Remi Oseni for Oyo South, Senator Yunus Akintunde for Oyo Central, and Chief (Mrs) Hannah Ogunesan for Oyo North Senatorial District.
Strengthening Party Cohesion
Party leaders stated that the presentation aimed to formally acquaint the President with the party's standard-bearers and bolster cohesion within the Oyo APC structure. They expressed confidence in Alli's candidacy, describing it as widely acceptable within the party and capable of repositioning the APC for electoral success in the state. They also noted that the move reflects renewed alignment among key stakeholders, adding that the party is working to resolve internal differences and project a united front ahead of the polls.
Ending Speculation
The presentation effectively ends months of speculation within political circles over the party's governorship ticket, even as APC leaders intensify consultations and mobilization across the state. President Tinubu was said to have received the delegation and the party's candidates, in what stakeholders described as a strategic engagement on the party's electoral outlook in Oyo State.
