In a bold declaration of political strength, leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State have pronounced the opposition Peoples Democratic Party as effectively finished in the state. They have pledged a united front to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and to retake control of the Agodi Government House.
A United Front for 2027
The strong pronouncement was made on Tuesday, 13 January 2026, during the grand finale of a 14-Federal Constituency Tour organized by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors. The event, held in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, served as a rallying point for the party's top brass. Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, a former Senate Leader and the Oyo State Ambassador for Renewed Hope, led the charge. He asserted that Ibadan North remains a natural stronghold for the APC, attributing a previous by-election loss to internal discord that has now been resolved.
"Ibadan North is a stronghold of the APC. The division within our party led to PDP’s fluke victory. Today, we are united and ready to deliver Tinubu and dislodge the dead PDP from Agodi in 2027," Folarin declared. He further claimed that a mass exodus is crippling the PDP and other parties, making the APC "the only surviving party" in Oyo State as more people are drawn to President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
Key Figures Echo Confidence
The rally featured speeches from other prominent APC chieftains who reinforced the message of unity and impending victory. Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi commended party members for rebuilding grassroots structures and emphasized the need for continued discipline as the 2027 elections approach. Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, argued that the Tinubu administration's achievements warrant a second term, urging residents to support the APC to maintain what he called the "path of progress."
The chief host, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, described the Unity and Peace rally as merely the "tip of the iceberg" of the growing support for President Tinubu. He assured attendees that the party is positioned not only to secure the President's re-election but also to win back the Oyo State governorship and other key elective positions.
Grassroots Mobilization and Defections
With the constituency tour concluded, party leaders including Alhaji Olayide Abass, Senators Abdulfatai Buhari, Yunus Akintunde, Ayo Adeseun, and Hon. Bolaji Repete announced that the next phase of their strategy would involve sustained voter mobilization and promotion of the Renewed Hope Agenda at the grassroots level.
The event was notably marked by significant defections that lent credence to the APC's claims. Hundreds of new members from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party formally joined the APC. Key defectors were led by former council chairman Hon. Yusuf Shuab and former PDP Local Government Chairman Hon. Seun Adelore. From the Labour Party, figures like Hon. Babatunde Olugbenga and Hon. Afeez Abiola also crossed over, citing the APC's good governance and inclusive leadership as their primary motivation.
The collective message from Oyo APC is clear: they view the political landscape as firmly in their favor and are embarking on an aggressive campaign to translate this perceived dominance into concrete electoral success in the 2027 general elections.
