Oyo PDP Endorses Sandy Onor for 2027 Presidential Poll

The Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has formally endorsed Professor Sandy Onor as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. The affirmation took place on Tuesday in Ibadan during a gathering of party leaders and members, where Onor's candidacy received overwhelming support through a voice vote conducted by the state chapter.

Endorsement Process

Oyo State PDP Chairman, Professor Rahman Akinoso, who presided over the exercise, called for the voice vote, which was unanimously adopted by party faithful present at the event. The endorsement reflects the party's unity and readiness for the upcoming elections.

Gbolarumi's Remarks

Speaking shortly after the affirmation, the PDP Returning Officer for the exercise in Oyo State and former Deputy Governor, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, expressed appreciation to party members and leaders for their support. Gbolarumi described Onor as a credible and experienced leader capable of making the country great, expressing confidence that the PDP standard-bearer would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, the PDP remains committed to policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and addressing the socio-economic challenges confronting the country. He called on Nigerians to rally behind the party, insisting that the PDP possesses the vision and capacity to deliver inclusive development and responsive governance.

“The presidential candidate is poised for victory in the 2027 general elections. We appreciate members and leaders of the party for their commitment and support,” he said. Gbolarumi stated that the party’s welfare-driven agenda would promote national development, economic recovery and improved living conditions for citizens.

Akinoso's Call for Unity

The PDP State Chairman, Professor Rahman Akinoso, lauded the members for their support and faithfulness to the party. Akinoso urged members to remain united and intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming elections. He emphasized that the affirmation is expected to strengthen the PDP’s internal consultations and preparations as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum across the country.
