Radda Emerges as Katsina APC Governorship Candidate for 2027
Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Radda, has been officially selected as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the state in the upcoming 2027 elections. The announcement was made following an affirmative voice vote conducted on Thursday afternoon at the People's Square, located opposite the Government House.
More than 1,000 party delegates participated in the exercise, which saw Radda unanimously endorsed as the party's flagbearer. Yakubu Maccido, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, confirmed that the governor secured the endorsement through a voice vote by delegates and party supporters. He emphasized that the affirmation followed a unanimous agreement among stakeholders in the state, reflecting the party's commitment to unity ahead of the 2027 polls.
Maccido noted that the exercise was conducted peacefully and in accordance with party guidelines. "While some states experienced tension during the process, Katsina distinguished itself through unity, discipline, and effective leadership under Governor Radda," he said.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Radda expressed gratitude to delegates and party members for granting him another opportunity to contest for a second term. He assured them that he would continue to implement policies and programs that positively impact the lives of the people. Radda also pledged to build upon his achievements from his first tenure to drive socio-economic development in the state.
Former Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari also addressed the gathering, cautioning that consensus agreements and candidate selections alone are insufficient. He stressed the need for party members to actively engage with the electorate and promote the APC's manifesto across every corner of the state to enhance the party's chances in the general elections.
Masari called on party members to visit all nooks and crannies of Katsina to sell the APC's message, emphasizing that grassroots outreach is critical for success in the 2027 polls.
