President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Akwa Ibom State. The declaration was made at the State Collation Centre, Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, by the State Collation/Returning Officer, Pastor Umo Eno, who announced that Tinubu secured a total of 389,197 votes.
Peaceful Conduct Praised
Pastor Umo Eno congratulated President Tinubu on what he termed an overwhelming victory in Akwa Ibom State. He commended residents for the peaceful conduct of the exercise across the state and urged APC members to begin mobilizing support ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure a more decisive victory for the party.
Akpabio Commends Governor Eno
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, speaking after the declaration, commended Governor Umo Eno for what he described as an unprecedented level of peace during the primaries. He recalled past election cycles marred by violence, including reports of gunshots, intimidation, and other electoral irregularities, noting that the current process reflected significant progress. Akpabio stated that Akwa Ibom has “never had it so good,” adding that support for Governor Eno’s second-term ambition is based on performance and the need to sustain peace in the state.
Party Leaders Celebrate Success
The APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, also congratulated Akpabio and Governor Eno on their respective political achievements, describing the process as successful and orderly. Similarly, the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Prince Enobong Uwah, praised Governor Eno for ensuring a peaceful and well-coordinated primary election across the state.
