In a massive show of festive season generosity, the lawmaker representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Comrade Chinedu Ogah, distributed a whopping ₦200 million in cash and 12 trailers loaded with rice to his constituents over the weekend.
Leadership is About the People, Says Ogah
The distribution, held at the lawmaker's country home, was part of the annual Yuletide empowerment programme organised by the Chinedu Ogah Foundation. Addressing the large crowd, Ogah emphasised that true leadership prioritises the will of the people over personal ambition. "The people you see here are those who elected me, and they deserve the best," he stated, adding, "if my people want me, I will serve them, but if they don’t, I will not."
He insisted the exercise was purely humanitarian and not politically motivated, coinciding with the 26th anniversary and annual Foundation Day of his organisation. Beneficiaries were carefully selected from all 31 wards within the federal constituency to ensure fair and equitable distribution across communities.
A Legacy of Grassroots Empowerment
Ogah, who chairs the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, highlighted that his foundation has focused on grassroots support for over a quarter of a century. Its programmes have consistently included:
- Construction of houses for the needy.
- Awarding educational scholarships.
- Facilitating job opportunities.
- Providing direct economic support to the less privileged.
The lawmaker also announced plans for a more comprehensive, people-driven empowerment programme scheduled for March to early April 2026.
Dignitaries Laud Impactful Representation
The event attracted a high-profile gathering, including the Deputy Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Onah, commissioners, APC leaders, and representatives of various community groups.
Chairman of the occasion, Comrade Emmanuel Chukwu, a Director with the Nigerian Aviation Authority, praised Ogah for effectively translating government policies into tangible benefits for ordinary people. Other speakers, like the State Commissioner for Education, Dr Donatus Ilang, and former Chief Whip Humphrey Nwuruku, described the massive turnout as a clear testament to the public's trust and affection for the federal lawmaker.
Ogah used the platform to commend both President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and the developmental strides of Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru. He specifically highlighted improvements in security, road infrastructure, water projects, and scholarship schemes, declaring Ebonyi as one of the safest states for investment in the South-East region.
