Nigerian governors have extended heartfelt congratulations to Muslims across the country on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to embrace peaceful coexistence, offer prayers for the nation, and foster unity.
Lagos State Governor's Message
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, rejoiced with Muslims nationwide, particularly in Lagos State, during this year's Eid-el-Kabir celebration. In his Sallah message, the governor congratulated Muslims and advised them to continue on the path of spirituality and peaceful coexistence. He also urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to imbibe the lessons of sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and work for the peace, unity, and progress of the nation.
Sanwo-Olu noted that Eid al-Adha is a symbolic event in human history, highlighting the rewards that follow patience and perseverance, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, who held firmly to his faith despite trials. He stated: “On behalf of my family and the Lagos State government, I join millions around the world to wish our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lagos State and Nigeria a happy Eid-el-Kabir, which carries significant lessons for mankind.”
He added: “This symbolic Islamic festival reminds us that great rewards come from abiding faith and patience during trying times, with persistence in prayers and tenacity in belief. It also reminds us of the sacrifice we must make not only for spiritual fulfillment but also for the progress of mankind and the development of our society.” The governor appealed to all Lagos residents and Nigerians to draw lessons from Prophet Ibrahim's example by avoiding actions that could undermine national unity and stability.
Sanwo-Olu also advised Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration in building a nation that works for all, emphasizing that keeping Nigeria on the path of development is a collective responsibility.

He also charged residents to remain vigilant during and after the Sallah festival, emphasizing the importance of security consciousness amid challenges like banditry and kidnapping. Makinde reassured that his administration would continue to serve the people's interests and work towards securing the state and its residents while promoting economic prosperity.
