Oyo Assembly Chief Whip Denies Involvement in Alleged Plot to Impeach Governor Makinde
Gbenga Oyekola, the Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has firmly denied any involvement in an alleged plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde. Oyekola, who represents the Atiba State Constituency, issued this clarification on Tuesday through his verified Facebook page, stating that he was neither invited nor participated in any meetings aimed at destabilizing the state government.
Lawmaker Condemns Discord and Reaffirms Loyalty
Elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oyekola alleged that certain individuals are attempting to sow discord within the State House of Assembly and undermine the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative branches. In his statement, he emphasized his commitment to peace and unity in Oyo State.
"I, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, hereby completely disassociate myself from any arrangement or activity that has the potential to disrupt the peace of Oyo State. I was never invited, never consulted, and was not part of any such meetings or arrangements," he declared.
Pledge of Unwavering Support to Governor Makinde
Oyekola further pledged his loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, stressing that he would not engage in any acts capable of undermining the administration. "I cannot and will not be disloyal to my boss, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde. I reaffirm my unwavering loyalty and support for Governor Seyi Makinde, his government, and his party," he added.
He also reiterated his dedication to the continued progress and stability of Oyo State, calling for harmony among political stakeholders.
