President Tinubu Declares Nigerian Economy Has Emerged from Crisis

President Bola Tinubu has made a significant announcement, stating that the Nigerian economy is now out of the woods and has exited the dark tunnel of uncertainty that has plagued the nation. The President delivered this optimistic assessment while hosting state governors for the breaking of an interfaith fast at the Presidential Villa on Monday night, February 23.

Economic Recovery and Commitment to Promises

In his speech, President Tinubu emphasized that the economy is showing positive signs of improvement. He reiterated his unwavering commitment to fulfilling the promises made to Nigerians, assuring that these commitments will not be postponed. The President highlighted the importance of addressing unemployment and reaching out to vulnerable segments of society.

"We are out of the woods. Out of the dark tunnel of uncertainty. The economy is showing up. Let’s help the unemployed. What I promise you will not be postponed," President Tinubu declared.

Announcement of State Police to Combat Insecurity

A key highlight of the President's address was the announcement that state police will soon become a reality in Nigeria. This move is aimed at curbing the persistent insecurity challenges facing the country. President Tinubu framed this initiative as a practical and necessary reform rather than a political maneuver.

"We will establish a state police to combat insecurity. Start looking around you. To reach the young man who feels forgotten. To lift the woman who carries her family on tired shoulders. To touch the communities at the grassroots, where hope sometimes flickers," he stated.

Unity and Compassion Across Divides

President Tinubu called for unity and compassion that transcends religious, tribal, and status boundaries. He stressed that development, compassion, and opportunity must be accessible to all Nigerians, regardless of their background.

"Development must not recognise religion. Compassion must not recognise tribe. Opportunity must not recognise status," the President asserted, underscoring his vision for an inclusive Nigeria.

Security as Foundation for Prosperity

The President elaborated on the critical role of security in achieving national prosperity. He argued that without security, key sectors such as agriculture and business cannot thrive, and families cannot live in peace.

"Security is the foundation of prosperity. Without it, farms cannot flourish, businesses cannot grow, and families cannot sleep in peace," President Tinubu explained, linking economic recovery directly to improved security measures.

Bold Reforms and National Unity

President Tinubu expressed his determination to rescue Nigeria through bold reforms and collective effort. He emphasized the need to reform ineffective systems while protecting cherished national values.

"I am determined to rescue this country. And as long as we work together in delivering hope to our citizens, the best is yet to come for Nigeria. What I promised Nigerians will not be postponed," he affirmed.

The President concluded by reinforcing the state police initiative as a tool for empowering states to protect their people while strengthening the national security framework. "This is not about politics. It is about practicality. It is about empowering states with the tools to protect their people while strengthening our national framework. We must be bold enough to reform what is not working. We must be united enough to protect what we hold dear," he stated.
