Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved nearly ₦1 billion for the settlement of arrears owed to judiciary staff. The governor reiterated this decision as part of ongoing efforts to promote fairness, responsibility, and respect for labour despite fiscal constraints.
Governor Sani made this known when he received the leadership of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kaduna State Chapter, on a courtesy visit at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House. The discussions focused on strengthening institutions that support justice, accountability, and democratic governance.
The union delegation, led by its Chairman, Mr. Auwalu Sarki, engaged the governor on issues affecting judiciary workers and expressed appreciation for recent government interventions addressing outstanding entitlements.
The governor explained that the intervention covers two months’ salary arrears for April and May 2021 inherited from the previous administration, as well as leave grants for 2023, 2024, and 2025. It also includes the long-overdue payment of robe and outfit allowances for judiciary workers.
Governor Sani commended judiciary staff for their role in upholding justice and strengthening public trust in the legal system, noting that their contribution remains vital to good governance.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving staff welfare, upgrading judicial infrastructure, and sustaining cooperation between the executive and the judiciary to advance justice delivery in Kaduna State.
