Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the payment of allowances and stipends to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state. The decision, announced on June 24, 2026, by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, covers corps members from Batch A Stream I and II up to Batch C Stream I and II.
Allowance Details and Beneficiaries
Under the new approval, NYSC medical doctors posted to Zamfara will receive a monthly allowance of N150,000. Corps members assigned to schools will receive N20,000 per month. The gesture acknowledges the contributions of corps members to education, healthcare, agriculture, and other critical sectors in the state.
Dantawasa stated that the approval reflects Governor Lawal's administration's unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of corps members. He commended the patriotism and dedication of NYSC members serving in Zamfara.

Governor Lawal has directed the Office of the Accountant General to facilitate the implementation of the approval smoothly and in accordance with established procedures. Dantawasa affirmed the government's commitment to ensuring the process is carried out effectively.

The Zamfara State government had earlier announced plans to resume payment of state allowances to corps members after suspending them for several months. This latest approval marks a significant step in improving the welfare of NYSC members in the state.
Similar initiatives have been taken in other states. Abia State Governor Alex Otti approved an increase in monthly allowances for corps members, while Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri raised the monthly stipend from N20,000 to N30,000. Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno also increased the allowance from N5,000 to N20,000.
