Governor Abiodun Commissions Elega-Saje Road, Unveils Plan for Ago-Odo-Lafenwa Reconstruction
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has officially commissioned the 5.5-kilometre Elega–Miliki–Saje–Bode-Olude–Alhaji Sugar Road, located in Abeokuta North and South Local Government Areas. During the ceremony, he also announced ambitious plans to commence the reconstruction of the Ago-Odo–Lafenwa Road, a project previously abandoned and inherited by his administration.
Infrastructure Expansion and Economic Boost
Governor Abiodun emphasized that these initiatives reflect his administration's unwavering commitment to expanding road infrastructure across Ogun State. He stated that the newly commissioned Elega–Saje corridor has already begun to transform the area, significantly improving mobility and increasing commercial activity, particularly during nighttime hours. To further enhance safety and business operations, he announced that solar streetlights will be installed along the route.
Regarding the Ago-Odo–Lafenwa Road, Abiodun described it as a critical project that will improve connectivity and stimulate commerce within the axis. He revealed additional plans to construct a one-kilometre link road, including a bridge connecting the area to Lafenwa, following requests from community leaders and the Alake of Egbaland.
Ongoing Projects and Future Plans
Reaffirming his focus on infrastructure, Governor Abiodun disclosed that approximately 26 roads are ready for commissioning, with at least one road slated for inauguration weekly in the coming months. He highlighted ongoing projects, such as the Car Wash–Adatan Road, which is nearing completion and expected to further enhance transportation networks in the state.
Tourism Development and Revenue Growth
On the tourism front, Abiodun noted that the refurbished Olumo Rock Tourist Centre is attracting international attention, with the City of Milan, Italy, expressing interest in collaboration. He added that the facility's revenue has seen a remarkable increase, rising from about ₦3 million annually to approximately ₦10 million weekly following its concession, showcasing the economic benefits of strategic investments in tourism.

Governor Abiodun stressed that a peaceful political environment remains essential for sustained socio-economic development. He highlighted that his administration has maintained stability while delivering key projects, ensuring that infrastructure improvements contribute to overall growth and improved living standards for residents.
Commendations from Officials and Traditional Leaders
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, praised the new road, stating it will further boost economic activities in the area and urged residents to take ownership of the project. Traditional leaders, including the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, commended the governor for his infrastructure drive, noting visible improvements across the state. They expressed confidence that the administration will continue to drive economic growth and enhance community well-being through such initiatives.
