Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has made a firm commitment to drive economic prosperity and guarantee sustained peace within the state throughout the year 2026.
New Year Message Focuses on Resilience and Renewed Efforts
In a New Year goodwill message released on Thursday, 1 January 2026, and delivered by his Media Aide, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor praised the resilience of Nigerians, with special mention of Bauchi State residents. He acknowledged the economic challenges of the past year and commended the people for their patience, prayerfulness, and commitment to peaceful coexistence.
Governor Mohammed assured citizens that his administration is dedicated to alleviating their hardships. He promised continued palliative support while actively working on long-term solutions to bolster the state's economy.
Key Focus on Summit Resolutions and Project Completion
A major pillar of the governor's plan for 2026 is the full implementation of resolutions from the recent Bauchi State Investment and Economic Summit. He described this as a critical step to accelerate economic growth and social development.
Despite his administration nearing the end of its second and final term, Mohammed vowed to remain focused on delivering key projects. He highlighted ongoing interventions in several sectors:
- Road reconstruction and urban renewal
- Mass housing initiatives
- Education and youth development programs
- Agriculture and economic empowerment schemes
The governor stressed that development across all these sectors is essential for improving public welfare. He also emphasized his administration's core principles of consultation, stakeholder engagement, and accountability to the people.
Security and Political Stability as Priorities
On the crucial issue of security, Governor Mohammed gave a strong reassurance. He declared that Bauchi State will not be a safe haven for criminal elements and pledged sustained support for security agencies. He urged residents to cooperate by reporting suspicious activities, reminding everyone that security is a collective responsibility.
With political activities for the 2027 general elections beginning to intensify, the governor issued a clear appeal. He called on all political parties, aspirants, and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and in strict compliance with the Electoral Act. A warning was also issued that the government would not hesitate to enforce the law against anyone threatening public peace.
To cap his message, Governor Mohammed called for sustained prayers, cooperation, and understanding from traditional rulers, religious leaders, and politicians across party lines. This collective effort, he believes, is vital for ensuring lasting peace, unity, and prosperity in Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole.
