Ekiti State Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye has cast her vote in the ongoing governorship election and expressed strong confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, will win by a wide margin. Afuye voted at her Atiba Aafin Ward 1, Polling Unit 003, in Ikere Ekiti at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Afuye Praises Voter Turnout
After voting, Afuye commended the electorate for their patriotic spirit and high turnout, describing it as a demonstration of strong civic participation. She noted that reports from various local governments and towns indicated large numbers of voters coming out to exercise their rights.
“Governor Oyebanji is not only winning this election, it is going to be with a wide margin,” Afuye stated, as reported by The Punch. She added that the rigorous campaigns conducted by the APC had yielded positive results, reflecting in the enthusiasm of voters.
Governor Oyebanji's Performance
Afuye highlighted that Governor Oyebanji had served Ekiti State with dedication and was widely regarded as having performed well during his tenure. She expressed satisfaction with the conduct of voters, noting their readiness and anxiety to participate in the electoral process.
“I am not using Ikere as the only area of focus now; we are getting the same information from some of our local governments and towns about how our voters are coming out in large numbers. I am happy about this. This shows that the rigorous campaigns that we did yield positive results,” she said.

Earlier, social media predictions had indicated that Governor Oyebanji was leading major contenders in a competitive race for re-election. A poll conducted by Legit.ng revealed 56% support for Oyebanji, with other candidates Oluyede and Bejide trailing behind.
