Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has initiated a minor but significant change in his administration's executive council, approving the redeployment of a key commissioner. The move comes as the governor makes a strong appeal for unity among the state's stakeholders.
Cabinet Reshuffle: Green Moves to Justice Ministry
Governor Siminalayi Fubara has given his approval for a reshuffle within the Rivers State Executive Council. The most notable change is the redeployment of Christopher Green, who previously served as the Commissioner for Sports. He has now been moved to the pivotal role of Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
This decision was ratified during the final State Executive Council meeting for the year 2025. The government's announcement was made public through a statement issued by Dr. Honour Sirawoo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communications. The redeployment is effective immediately.
Continuity and Strengthened Governance
According to the official statement, this administrative adjustment highlights the Fubara-led government's dedication to reinforcing governance structures. The aim is to ensure seamless service delivery and to enhance the output of crucial ministries in the state.
In an interesting note on continuity, Christopher Green will continue to oversee the activities of the Ministry of Sports until a new, substantive commissioner is appointed to the role. This indicates a strategic approach to maintaining stability during the transition period.
A Governor's Plea for Unity at a Critical Juncture
Separately, Governor Fubara has used a public platform to call for solidarity among the people of Rivers State. Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the Eneka Day Celebration in Port Harcourt, the governor described the state as being at a "critical crossroads."
He emphasized that collective resolve and cooperation are non-negotiable for moving forward. "For me, today is very important because the state is at the crossroads; what matters most is unity that will attract progress," Governor Fubara stated.
He commended the theme of the event, 'Unifying our strength for progress,' noting that it reflects an understanding that true development is only possible when people are united. The governor warned against divisive tactics, asserting that unity is the strongest foundation for progress and development.
Fubara urged the Eneka community, and by extension all residents of Rivers State, to remain steadfast and united. He argued that a united populace possesses a stronger voice and is in a better position to engage effectively with the government for the common good.
