An influential Ijaw grassroots organisation has publicly urged Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, to appoint Dr. Famous Sayerigha Eseduwo as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

The group, known as POLIVOX, made this significant appeal in a statement released on Friday, January 16, 2026. The statement doubled as a congratulatory message to mark Dr. Eseduwo's birthday. According to the group, the vacancy created by the untimely passing of the former Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, presents a critical moment for the state. They argue that the Bayelsa West Senatorial District and Constituency 1, which previously held the seat, must not be sidelined to maintain political balance and equity.
