Kano State Government Unveils Plan to Install Toll Gates on Major Highways
The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially announced a strategic initiative to install toll gates on all major highways leading into the Kano metropolis. This move is aimed at enhancing security monitoring and strengthening the state's socio-economic framework, as detailed in a recent statement by government officials.

According to Adamu Abdullahi, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Housing Development, the decision to mount toll gates is designed to improve surveillance of vehicular movement into Kano. Abdullahi emphasized that this initiative will boost the security and socio-economic apparatus of Kano State by reinforcing security architecture at strategic entry points. He explained that the toll gates will serve as control points to regulate and document vehicular inflow, thereby safeguarding lives and property through structured monitoring.
Proposed Locations and Construction Details
The proposed locations for the toll gates include key routes such as Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Kano–Daura Road, and Hadejia Road. These roads connect the Kano metropolis to neighbouring states, making them critical for both security and economic activities. The Commissioner for Housing Development, Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, has officially handed over the seven project sites to contractors, marking the commencement of construction.
