Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has once again pledged his government's dedication to initiating and completing projects that directly benefit the citizens of the state.
Road Project Launch and Infrastructure Focus
The governor made this commitment public on Monday, January 12, 2026, during the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of the 12-kilometre Takum–Lissam Road in Takum Local Government Area. He emphasized that developing infrastructure, particularly roads, is a top priority for his administration because it improves accessibility, stimulates local economies, and enhances the general quality of life for residents.
Governor Kefas pointed to the administration's track record in fostering unity and improving security across the state, expressing confidence that the people of Taraba should expect even better times ahead.
Assurances from Contractors and Government Officials
Representatives from the construction firm awarded the road project assured the state government and the community that the work would be finished before the end of the year. They promised that the project would meet high standards of quality and durability.
Echoing the governor's sentiments, the State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Moseh Luka, highlighted the broader benefits of the road. He stated it would accelerate socio-economic growth, boost commercial activities, and improve security monitoring in Takum, Lissam, and surrounding communities.
Assessment of Wukari Secretariat Fire Damage
Earlier on the same day, Governor Kefas visited the Wukari Local Government Area Secretariat to see firsthand the destruction caused by a recent fire. The council chairman informed the governor that the blaze, which broke out on the evening of Friday, January 9, after working hours, severely damaged no fewer than 17 departments within the secretariat complex.
Governor Kefas sympathized with the local government authorities over the unfortunate incident. He assured them that the state government would give the situation the urgent attention it requires to facilitate recovery and restoration.
