Governor Hope Uzodimma Begins 2nd Anniversary Events for Final Term
Uzodimma Kicks Off Second Term Anniversary Activities

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will on Thursday, January 15, 2026, officially commence activities to mark the second anniversary of his second and final term in office.

Schedule of Anniversary Events

The programme was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the governor's Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu. The day will feature a twin event, starting with a special interdenominational thanksgiving service.

The service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Government House Chapel in Owerri. According to the statement, the mass is an expression of gratitude for divine guidance and sustenance over the past two years of the governor's administration.

Honouring Fallen Heroes

Immediately following the religious service, Governor Uzodimma will proceed to the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square (RANKS) Cenotaph for a solemn wreath-laying ceremony.

This segment of the event is designed to honour the memory of fallen heroes and veterans who served the state and the nation. Ugochukwu stated that these twin events underscore the administration's blend of spiritual reflection and patriotic remembrance.

Call for Participation and Focus of Second Term

The governor's aide urged residents, top government officials, members of the clergy, and traditional leaders to attend the occasion. He emphasized that the interdenominational nature of the service highlights the administration's commitment to unity and inclusivity across religious lines.

Ugochukwu noted that Uzodimma's second term, which began in January 2024, has prioritised continued infrastructure development, security enhancement, and economic revitalisation across Imo State.

Background and Leadership Roles

Governor Uzodimma first assumed office on January 15, 2020, following a Supreme Court ruling on January 14, 2020. The apex court voided the election of Chief Emeka Ihedioha, who had served for about seven months.

The court declared that Uzodimma, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate originally placed fourth, had actually scored the highest number of lawful votes after the inclusion of previously excluded results.

Beyond governing Imo State, Uzodimma currently holds significant leadership positions, including Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Chairman of the South East Governors' Forum, and Director General of the Renewed Hope Agenda for President Bola Tinubu.
