Wike Vows to Correct Rivers' Leadership Mistake in 2027 Elections
Wike: We'll fix Rivers leadership mistake in 2027

In a bold political declaration, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that the people of Rivers State will have an opportunity to rectify what he termed a leadership error at the state level during the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Wike's Declaration in Khana

Wike made this significant statement on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, during a visit to the community of Khana in Bori, which is located within the Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State. He described the trip as a thank-you tour to express gratitude to the local populace for their steadfast support.

The former governor of Rivers State emphasized that the primary duty of elected leaders is to execute the will and mandate of the people who voted them into power, not to chase personal ambitions or agendas. He assured his supporters that the political miscalculation witnessed at the state level would not be repeated.

"We will not make the same mistake again at the state level in 2027. When the time comes, we will talk about it. Just follow your leaders. Anywhere you see them going, that is where we are going," Wike told the gathered crowd.

A Visit of Appreciation, Not Politics

Wike was keen to stress that his journey to Khana was not driven by political motives. Instead, he said he came specifically to thank the people for their loyalty and for standing firmly with him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly during the pivotal 2023 presidential elections.

He praised the courage of the Khana electorate, noting that they took a bold step by supporting Tinubu's candidacy at a time when many others were hesitant or afraid. Wike asserted that their political loyalty and bravery have ultimately yielded positive results and recognition.

APC Chieftain's Advice to Governor Fubara

In a related development that underscores Wike's enduring influence in Rivers politics, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress has issued direct advice to the state's current governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Victor Giadom, the National Vice Chairman of the APC for the South-South region, spoke during Wike's parallel thank-you visit to the Gokana Local Government Area. Giadom openly advised Governor Fubara that to achieve any meaningful success or project in Rivers State, he must coordinate and work through the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Giadom described Wike as a "dependable leader" whose political stature in Rivers is unmatched. He assured the minister that in Gokana, and by extension the state, no other political force rivals Wike's influence and that the party structure remains firmly aligned with him.

This public counsel highlights the ongoing complex political dynamics in Rivers State, where the minister, despite holding a federal position, continues to be viewed by allies as the central figure for governance and electoral success within the state.
