Zamfara Gov Inspects Shinkafi Projects, Lauds Progress

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has declared that his administration's 'rescue mission' is progressing as planned and is already producing visible results throughout the state.

Project Inspection and Empowerment Launch

On Wednesday, January 8, 2026, Governor Lawal conducted an official working visit to the Shinkafi Local Government Area. The primary purpose of the visit was to inspect several state government projects currently underway. During the tour, the Governor also officially launched a significant empowerment initiative spearheaded by Honourable Bello Hassan Shinkafi, the federal lawmaker representing the Shinkafi/Zurmi Constituency.

The empowerment programme directly benefited 2,000 individuals with various items designed to boost economic activity. The distributed items included luxury cars, tricycles (Keke NAPEP), motorcycles, and sewing machines, among other vital tools.

Healthcare Facilities Get Major Boost

A key focus of the inspection tour was the health sector. Governor Lawal assessed the Women and Children Welfare Clinic (WCWC) and Primary Healthcare Centre in Shinkafi Town, which has been awarded for total renovation to improve maternal and child health services.

The Governor also visited the recently renovated General Hospital in Shinkafi. He confirmed that the previously abandoned facility has been fully revived and now boasts state-of-the-art medical equipment to handle emergency cases effectively.

Furthermore, Governor Lawal inspected the site of the ongoing new Referral Hospital project in Shinkafi. He emphasized that this facility would be a transformative development, not just for Shinkafi LGA but for the entire Zamfara North Senatorial Zone. "It will ease a significant burden for people battling illnesses who are seeking serious medical attention," the Governor stated.

Commitment to Development and Education

Speaking at the Emir's Palace, Governor Lawal reiterated his government's unwavering dedication to executing capital projects across all local government areas. He provided an update on an educational project, revealing that the state government has acquired the former Bafarawa Institute. This facility is slated to house the Faculty of Medical Sciences for the Zamfara State University and is undergoing serious construction work to prepare it for academic use.

Governor Lawal commended Hon. Bello Hassan Shinkafi for the impactful empowerment programme and used the opportunity to call on other stakeholders and well-meaning individuals in the state to prioritise investments in human capital development.

The Governor's visit and statements underscore a concerted effort to combine infrastructure development, improved healthcare access, and economic empowerment as pillars of his administration's strategy to rescue and rebuild Zamfara State.
