Zamfara Pays ₦25 Million to Secure Doctor's Certificate After 9-Year Delay
Zamfara Govt Pays ₦25m for Doctor's Certificate

In a significant intervention aimed at rescuing a citizen's career, the Zamfara State Government has cleared a longstanding financial obligation to secure the medical certificate of one of its indigenes.

Governor Lawal's Rescue Agenda in Action

The state administration, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, authorized the payment of over twenty-five million Naira (₦25 million) to the SHRI B.M. Patil Medical College in India. This payment was necessary to allow Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu, a graduate of the college, to finally collect his certificate after an agonizing delay of nine years.

The revelation was made public by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun. She addressed journalists during a briefing held at the Polio Emergency Centre located in Gusau, the state capital.

A Nine-Year Career Stalemate Resolved

Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu successfully completed his medical studies nearly a decade ago. However, his professional journey was abruptly halted because he could not obtain his official certificate. The barrier was unpaid school fees that had been left unsettled by the previous state administration.

Governor Lawal's approval of the substantial payment effectively resolves this long-standing issue, demonstrating his administration's stated commitment to human capital development. Commissioner Maradun praised the move as a clear testament to the government's Rescue Agenda and its focus on citizen welfare.

Call for Commitment and Gratitude Expressed

While celebrating the resolution, Dr. Maradun also issued a charge to the beneficiary. She urged Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu to remain dedicated and hardworking in his medical practice. The goal is for him to justify the state's considerable investment and contribute meaningfully to the development of Zamfara's health sector.

In his response, Dr. Aliyu expressed profound gratitude. He thanked the Zamfara State Government under Governor Lawal for essentially saving his career and future. He also extended his appreciation to the Health Commissioner, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, and the Executive Secretary of the Hospital Services Management Board, Alhaji Mustapha Marafa, for their pivotal roles in the intervention.

This event, dated 5th January 2026, marks a personal victory for Dr. Aliyu and a symbolic achievement for an administration prioritizing the resolution of inherited problems affecting its citizens.
