A major strategic partnership aimed at transforming the lives of women and children across Nigeria was officially launched in Abuja on Monday, January 12, 2026.
A Strategic Alliance for National Impact
The TOS Foundation Africa has joined forces with the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses’ Forum (NGSF) in a coordinated effort to scale initiatives for women's economic empowerment, strengthen primary healthcare delivery, and improve child survival outcomes. This collaboration is designed to drive state-led interventions across all 36 states, with a sharp focus on underserved and vulnerable communities.
The partnership will leverage the Forum's unique position, led by its Chairperson, Her Excellency, Amb. Prof. (Mrs.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq. The spouses of state governors bring critical access to subnational leadership and deep community-level engagement, particularly among women and families.
Expanding a Proven Framework
Central to this new alliance is the expansion of TOS Foundation Africa’s Women and Girls Empowerment (WAGE) and Capacity Building Incubator (CBI) framework. Originally launched in 2020—when the organisation was known as The Osasu Show Foundation—this framework was introduced to tackle persistent gender inequities.
It was unveiled at a high-level event attended by key figures including the then Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Kedem Tallen, and Amnesty International Nigeria’s Country Director, Osai Ojigho. The initiative was kick-started with a substantial ₦2.5 billion catalytic fund.
The framework is a systems-based approach that connects economic empowerment with health system strengthening. It is built on the understanding that a mother's economic security is directly linked to her household's stability and her child's chances of survival.
Aligning Expertise for Measurable Results
Under this partnership, TOS Foundation Africa will contribute its programme design, technical expertise, and monitoring systems. This will be combined with the NGSF's powerful convening ability and reach at the state level. The goal is to ensure stronger state ownership, sustainability, and alignment with Nigeria's national development priorities.
Key focus areas include:
- Strengthening Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to improve infant survival rates.
- Creating and expanding pathways for women's economic empowerment.
- Supporting the implementation of measurable and scalable models tailored to each state's context.
Speaking on the collaboration, the Founder of TOS Foundation Africa, Chief (Mrs.) Osasu Igbinedion Ogwuche, emphasized the interconnected nature of the challenges. "Improving child survival and women’s livelihoods requires more than isolated programmes," she stated. "It requires systems that recognise how closely a mother’s economic stability is tied to a child’s chance at survival."
She added that partnering with the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses’ Forum is a strategic move to strengthen existing state systems and translate national goals into tangible, community-level impact.
This partnership marks a significant scale-up for the WAGE and CBI framework and is expected to accelerate its nationwide rollout. It reinforces TOS Foundation Africa's broader mission of promoting inclusive governance, social equity, and sustainable development throughout Nigeria.
