TOS Foundation, Governors' Spouses Forge N2.5bn Pact for Women, Child Health
Nigerian Foundation, Governors' Spouses Boost Women's Empowerment

A major strategic partnership aimed at transforming the lives of Nigerian women and children has been officially launched. The TOS Foundation Africa has joined forces with the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses’ Forum (NGSF) to drive forward a nationwide initiative focused on women’s economic empowerment and improving child survival rates.

A Coordinated Push for Health and Livelihoods

Formalised on January 13, 2026, this alliance is designed to deliver state-led interventions that tackle two critical issues in tandem. The partnership will prioritise strengthening Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to enhance infant survival while simultaneously creating and expanding livelihood opportunities for women, particularly in underserved and rural communities across Nigeria.

By combining the technical expertise of TOS Foundation Africa with the NGSF's unique grassroots access and influence within state governance structures, the collaboration aims to ensure programs are effectively implemented and reach those most in need.

Scaling a Proven Framework Nationwide

At the core of this partnership is the scaling of the Foundation’s Women and Girls Empowerment (WAGE) and Capacity Building Incubator (CBI) framework. This program was first launched in 2020 under the banner of The Osasu Show Foundation, supported by national stakeholders and backed by a substantial N2.5 billion catalytic fund.

The WAGE and CBI framework is built on principles of strengthening local institutions, moving resources closer to communities, and equipping women with the skills and agency to participate in the economy with dignity. The new partnership aims to expand this model to all 36 states, reinforcing inclusive governance and sustainable development.

Leadership Highlights Integrated Approach

Chief (Mrs.) Osasu Igbinedion Ogwuche, Founder of TOS Foundation Africa, stressed the inseparable link between a mother's economic well-being and her child's health. "Improving child survival and women’s livelihoods requires more than isolated programmes," she stated. "It requires systems that recognise how closely a mother’s economic stability is tied to a child’s chance at survival. When women have the tools to earn, access quality care, and make informed choices, families become healthier and communities grow stronger."

Her Excellency, Amb. Prof. (Mrs.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq, Chairperson of the NGSF, described the collaboration as a blueprint for state-led, sustainable development. She emphasized the strategic role of governors' spouses, saying, "By leveraging our position within state governance structures, we can ensure that programmes reach the women and children who need them most, while supporting national priorities at the community level."

Pathway to Sustainable Impact

The ultimate goal of this formal partnership is to create measurable and lasting impact. The focus will be on delivering tangible improvements in two key areas:

  • Economic Security for Women: Through expanded livelihood programs and capacity building.
  • Health Outcomes for Children: Via strengthened primary healthcare systems at the community level.

This initiative represents a significant step towards addressing systemic challenges by linking economic empowerment with health interventions, ensuring a holistic approach to development that benefits entire families and communities.
