Bandits Strike Again in Kaduna: 3 Killed, 3 Abducted in Lere Community
3 Killed, 3 Abducted in Fresh Kaduna Bandit Attack

In a tragic repeat of violence, armed bandits have launched another deadly assault on a rural community in Kaduna State, leaving three people dead and three others abducted.

Night of Terror in Bundu Kahugu

The attack targeted the Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area late on Monday night, December 29, 2025. According to the National Secretary of the community, Ishaya Dauda, the assailants stormed the village around 11 pm, firing shots indiscriminately and spreading panic among residents.

Dauda confirmed that the attackers operated under the cover of darkness, a tactic that has become all too common. "The attackers came late at night and began shooting. Three people were killed instantly, while three others were taken away," he stated.

A Community Under Siege

This latest incident marks the second brutal attack on Bundu Kahugu in less than a fortnight. The community leader revealed that a similar assault occurred barely two weeks prior, resulting in the death of four individuals. This pattern highlights a severe and ongoing security challenge for the area.

The victims of the most recent attack have been identified as:

  • Felix Augustine
  • Luka Yakubu
  • Ezra Namata

Desperate Pleas for Help and Improved Networks

Faced with relentless violence, the traumatised residents have issued urgent appeals to both the Kaduna State Government and federal security agencies. Their primary demand is the immediate deployment of military personnel to the area to deter further attacks and restore a sense of safety.

Furthermore, the community has highlighted a critical vulnerability exploited by the bandits: poor telecommunication network coverage. They argue that the attackers capitalise on the area's weak signal to carry out operations and escape without facing any immediate resistance from security forces or locals trying to call for help.

"We are pleading with the government to help us. The poor network here is aiding the attackers. We need security presence and improved communication facilities to save our people," Dauda emphasised.

The repeated attacks on Bundu Kahugu underscore the persistent threat of banditry in parts of Northern Nigeria and raise serious questions about the effectiveness of current security measures in protecting vulnerable rural populations.
