Attack on Jebbu Miango Community
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) successfully repelled an attack by suspected armed Fulani bandits on the Jebbu Miango community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 29, 2026, at approximately 12:10 a.m., when troops from Sector 3 responded to reports of sporadic gunfire from suspected armed militias in the area.
Military Response and Engagement
According to military sources, the troops swiftly mobilized to the location and engaged the attackers in a fierce confrontation. The exchange of fire forced the bandits to flee into the surrounding highlands, preventing further casualties among the residents. After the attackers retreated, a thorough search of the community was conducted, leading to the discovery of the body of a 74-year-old resident, Mr. Baba Den, who is believed to have been killed during the initial attack.
Ongoing Operations and Security Measures
Following the incident, troops commenced offensive operations and domination patrols across the area to prevent the attackers from regrouping and to forestall any further attacks on the community. The military has assured that the security situation in the area remains under control, with efforts ongoing to track down the fleeing assailants.
