This significant security operation was carried out at approximately 11:30 AM on February 25, 2026, as confirmed by official statements released on Thursday.

Details of the Arrest and Suspects

Adeleye Adewale, the Ekiti State Amotekun Communication Officer, provided detailed information regarding the incident. According to reports filed by residents of Okemesi-Ekiti at the local Amotekun office, a group of Hausa and Fulani men were observed disembarking from a vehicle at a motor park located in front of the African Church along Itaawure Road.

The suspects have been identified as Abdulahi Makana, aged 28; Shuaba Ibrahim, 25; Adamu Muhammed, 25; Shlibu Umar, 31; and Aruna Yahaya, 28. Acting promptly on the tip-off, Amotekun personnel swiftly mobilized to the scene, leading to the apprehension of all five individuals without incident.

Items Recovered and Interrogation Findings

During the arrest, authorities recovered several items from the suspects, including two locally made guns, one axe, one dagger, two dogs, five mobile phones, and an assortment of charms. These exhibits were seized as part of the ongoing investigation into the suspects' activities and intentions in the area.

Upon interrogation, the suspects, who were reportedly led by an individual named Suleiman, asserted that they were farmers originating from Kaduna and Jigawa states. However, they were unable to provide credible documentation or evidence to substantiate their claims, raising further suspicions about their true motives and background.

Handover to Police for Further Action

The arrested suspects, along with all recovered items, have been formally handed over to the Ekiti West Police Command. This transfer ensures that a thorough and comprehensive investigation can be conducted to determine the full extent of their involvement in any criminal activities and to take necessary legal actions.

This operation highlights the proactive efforts of the Amotekun Corps in collaboration with local communities to enhance security and combat banditry in Ekiti State. The swift response to citizen reports underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with security agencies in maintaining public safety.
