A Nigerian woman, Aruta Mercy Ejege, has placed a curse on members of a community who allegedly razed her late uncle's house, leaving his widow and children homeless.
It was gathered that the incident occurred following a renewed communal clash between the Adiko community in Obi Local Government Area and the Ukpute community in Oju LGA of Benue State. Both communities have been involved in violent land disputes over the years.
The latest crisis, which began on Monday, April 27, 2026, was reportedly triggered by an attack on a woman from Ukpute who was seriously injured while working on her farm. The incident sparked a reprisal by youths from Ukpute, leading to destruction of houses and displacement.
In a post shared on social media, Ejege expressed her anguish over the destruction of her late uncle's home. She said, "This is one of my late uncles house. He died last year and this is the house he left for his widow and children but today Ainu Ukpute community razed it down."
She added, "Let it be known that Ainu Ukpute community left a widow and her kids homeless. The God I serve will judge anyone who perpetrated this evil and their sponsors. They will cry for help but help will be far from them."
