An 18-year-old woman who was assaulted by her husband has expressed deep regret over her marriage but pleaded with authorities not to arrest him. The couple arrived at a hospital with the wife bleeding from a cut to her eye, and the husband was observed trying to manipulate her, prompting hospital staff to intervene.
When law enforcement officials came to the hospital to arrest the husband, the young wife begged them to let him go free while she leaves the marriage. She explained that her mother-in-law and other in-laws do not like her and would blame her if her husband was taken into custody.
Wife's Plea for Husband's Freedom
Pleading with those who came to arrest her husband, she said: "Please, they will turn it upside down, they will turn this case upside down. They will say I'm the one that caused it. Please, let me go, let me go, because they'll say I'm the one that caused it."
She added that the way the story of what happened is being told has already surprised her. "Please, please. If I know I'd have not entered this marriage. Please, I don't know if they swear for me in the grave," she said.
Husband's Attempts to Silence Her
As she spoke, her husband, sitting beside her on the hospital bed, held her and tried to stop her from talking. A voice is heard saying, "Somebody now has come to save you. What is the basis for this tears?" The young wife responded: "Ma, I said I want to go, you people should not arrest him. Let me just go. Let me just go."
"Where are you going to?" a female voice asked her. Intervening, the husband asked his wife to calm down "for her health." Those present retorted: "For her health? But you beat her, beat her. After beating her."
Wife Clings to Husband as He Is Taken Away
Another video shows the wife taking drip on one hand while holding on to her husband's shirt with the other hand as they tried to take him away. Begging, she said: "Please, please, I'm begging you people in the name of God. It will be as if it is my fault. The mother don't like me, please."
At this point, her husband covered her mouth but his hand was pushed away immediately. "Please, let me just carry myself and be going. Please," the 18-year-old wife continued begging.
Observers Note Fear in Wife
"She's scared of him. She's so scared," a female voice is heard saying. "She's not scared," the husband replied. "It will not affect you," a voice assured the wife. But she was not convinced and she kept begging: "Please, it will be as if I'm the cause because the family don't like me."
"You're not the cause," someone said. "You people should just leave him let me go," the wife pleaded on her husband's behalf. "It's a lie," a voice said. "I'm not going to the marriage again, I swear," the wife promised. "You people should just leave him please. Don't arrest him. I swear to God I'll not go to the marriage again, please."
Husband Arrested Despite Wife's Pleas
According to reports, the husband has now been arrested while the wife continues receiving treatment at the hospital. The videos of the incident have been widely shared on social media, drawing attention to the case.
