Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has released disturbing evidence surrounding the extrajudicial killing of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi, an aspiring artist who was allegedly shot dead by a police officer in Uvwie, Delta State, on Sunday, April 26.

Footage shared by Gwamnishu on Tuesday, April 28, shows Ogidi's final moments, with the young man pleading for his life after being apprehended. In the video, Ogidi maintains his innocence, claiming he was deceived by a friend from Sapele and had no knowledge of any criminal activity.
How the Tragedy Unfolded
According to Gwamnishu's account, the tragedy began when a friend asked Ogidi to retrieve a package from a motor park. Armed with a waybill number, Ogidi collected the item, unaware it contained a firearm. He was subsequently intercepted by police officers who discovered the weapon during a search.
While Ogidi was reportedly explaining the situation, an officer identified as ASP Nuhu Usman allegedly opened fire, leaving him in a pool of blood. Ogidi's family had initially declared him missing before the footage surfaced online, sparking widespread outrage.
Police Response
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident, stating that ASP Usman has been arrested and remains in custody. An investigation is currently underway to determine the full circumstances of the shooting.
