Incident Details
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Muhammad Makama, for allegedly defiling his neighbour's 8-year-old daughter at Dorawan Dillalai area of Bauchi metropolis. The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on 7th July 2026.
The case was reported to the 'E' Division Yelwa, Bauchi, by the victim's 32-year-old mother. According to the PPRO, the mother alleged that on 5th July 2026 at about 1211hrs, the suspect lured her daughter into his room and defiled her. The incident was reported to the police at about 2214hrs on the same day.
Police Response and Medical Care
Upon receipt of the report, police operatives immediately swung into action. The victim was taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment. The suspect was also taken to the same facility for treatment after being assaulted by some angry members of the community, and was subsequently discharged.
The case is under investigation at the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi, for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
Official Condemnation
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has condemned the act in the strongest terms. He assured the public that the Command will ensure justice is served in accordance with the law. He further urged parents, guardians, and community members to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activity involving children to the nearest police station.
