Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a suspected blind drug peddler during a raid at the Government Secondary School (GSS) Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Gwoza, Borno State. The operation, executed by the 26 Task Force Brigade, targeted a suspected drug distribution point within the camp.

Arrest and Seizure

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Sani Abdullahi, was taken into custody around 8:00 p.m. on June 15, 2026. Security sources confirmed the raid was part of broader efforts to curb drug abuse and criminal activities in displaced persons' camps and surrounding communities.

Items recovered from Abdullahi include 32 wraps of cannabis, 21 wraps of Erinmore (a brand of chewing tobacco), four tablets of tramadol, a wrap containing white tablets suspected to be illicit substances, a Tecno Android phone, two talismans, a wristwatch, and a Bluetooth device.

Ongoing Investigation

Military sources stated that the suspect is currently in custody at the 26 Task Force Brigade and is undergoing further interrogation. The operation is part of sustained security measures to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities that could undermine stability in the North-East region.

Authorities noted that the general security situation in the theatre remains calm but unpredictable. Troops continue to maintain high morale and operational effectiveness in ongoing missions.
