Crypto Entrepreneur Blord Remanded in Kuje Prison Over Impersonation Charges
Cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, widely known as Blord, has been ordered to spend the Easter period in custody after being remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja. The Federal High Court in Abuja issued the remand order following Blord's arraignment on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, on multiple criminal charges.
Charges and Allegations Against Blord
Blord faces serious charges including criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and unauthorized use of identity belonging to social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan or VDM. The case stems from allegations that Blord used VeryDarkMan's image without consent for various promotional activities.
According to court documents and statements from VeryDarkMan, Blord allegedly forged flight tickets using the activist's name, claimed to have paid him five hundred million naira to serve as a brand ambassador, and printed billboards and fliers featuring VeryDarkMan's face to promote apps and products. "All of these are false," VeryDarkMan emphasized in a video statement.
VeryDarkMan's Celebration and Legal Process
VeryDarkMan celebrated the court's decision with a video shared from the courthouse, declaring "I don send am to prison" as Blord was taken into custody. The court directed that Blord remain in custody until April 27, 2026, meaning he will spend the entire Easter holiday period behind bars.
VeryDarkMan's lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, confirmed the swift legal process, noting that Blord was transported from Awka to Abuja for the proceedings. "We bundled the guy from Awka straight to Abuja... we shall also avail him free food, free medicare, free security... if u play, u learn the hard way," Abubakar stated in a video commentary.
Controversy and Criticism of the Detention
The detention has sparked controversy, with activist Omoyele Sowore condemning the celebration of Blord's incarceration. Sowore vowed to intervene to secure Blord's release, criticizing what he perceived as excessive celebration of another person's misfortune.
This case highlights the growing tensions between cryptocurrency entrepreneurs and social media activists in Nigeria's digital space. The allegations suggest Blord attempted to leverage VeryDarkMan's substantial online following for business promotion without proper authorization.
Background and Previous Interactions
Earlier reports indicated that Blord had displayed his luxury car collection during a tour of his residence, where he showed a white Mercedes-Benz S-Class 500 that he claimed was named after VeryDarkMan. According to Blord, the activist influenced his decision to purchase the vehicle.
The case continues to develop as legal proceedings move forward, with Blord's defense expected to respond to the charges in subsequent court appearances. The 26-day remand period represents a significant development in what appears to be an ongoing dispute between the cryptocurrency entrepreneur and the prominent social media activist.
