Residents of Numan, Adamawa State, are grappling with horror after two brothers allegedly took the life of their own father in a shocking act of violence that has left the community in disbelief.
Arrest Made in Neighboring State
The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one of the two suspects involved in the gruesome killing. The apprehended individual is David ThankGod, who was tracked down and taken into custody in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this development on Thursday, January 8, 2026. He stated that intensive efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the second suspect, Joshua ThankGod, who is currently on the run.
A Fatal Family Dispute
The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of January 3, 2026. The victim, Ogar ThankGod, a respected businessman in Numan, was attacked at his residence in the Gwe-da-Mallam area around 1 am. Preliminary reports indicate he was strangled.
Investigations by the police reveal a backdrop of a long-standing family dispute that had previously required police intervention. SP Nguroje explained that the two suspects, aged 23 and 25, were reportedly called back from Lagos by their sister in a bid to resolve the ongoing family crisis. This move, however, tragically escalated into the fatal confrontation.
"The matter was already a police case before the unfortunate incident," the PPRO stated, underscoring the prior knowledge of tensions within the family.
Community in Shock and Mourning
The killing has sent waves of outrage and profound sadness through Numan town. Locals have described the event as one of the most disturbing and heartbreaking family tragedies to hit the community in recent memory. The brutal nature of the crime, involving sons against their father, has sparked widespread condemnation and disbelief.
The Adamawa State Police Command has assured the public that its investigation is continuing diligently. Authorities have vowed to ensure that the fleeing suspect is captured and that both brothers face the full weight of the law for their alleged crime.
