One person has been rushed to the hospital after a loaded 20-foot container truck lost control of its brakes and fell onto a mini yellow bus in Lagos. The Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) reported that the incident occurred at Second Rainbow, inward Oshodi, on the service lane near the police tactical team station. The accident also damaged several roadside shops.
Response and Evacuation
Officers of the Nigeria Police Force are present to document the accident, while LASTMA officials are managing traffic flow. Two vehicles have been arranged to ensure prompt evacuation, and traffic continues to move despite the disruption.
Previous Incident on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway
In February, two people died in a collision involving two fully laden 40-foot container trucks along the Cele inward section of the Oshodi–Apapa Expressway in Lagos. LASTMA confirmed that one truck driver and a suspected miscreant lost their lives in that crash near Mile 2. The driver of one truck (registration number T-392 LA) was trapped in his cabin and later confirmed dead. The second victim, a suspected miscreant, was found beneath one of the trucks during recovery, though officials said the circumstances of his presence were unclear.
