Operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol have apprehended a man found in possession of suspected human body parts during a routine security operation along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Routine Check Uncovers Grisly Find
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 18, near Guru Maharaji Village in Oyo State. According to a statement issued by the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, officers on a stop-and-search duty intercepted a commercial vehicle. A thorough search of the passengers' luggage led to the discovery of a red cloth bundle containing bones and other items believed to be parts of a human corpse.
Suspect Apprehended and Investigation Launched
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Kazeem Ayegbo, was immediately taken into custody. Ayegbo was travelling from Lagos to Osogbo at the time of the interception. The police statement confirmed that a comprehensive investigation has commenced to unravel the origin of the remains and their intended purpose.
"Investigation has commenced to determine the origin and intended purpose of the recovered items," Osifeso stated. He added that investigative efforts have been extended beyond Oyo State to identify and apprehend all persons connected with the incident.

The Oyo State Police Command has moved to reassure the public, promising that the case is being handled with the utmost professionalism and diligence. The suspect, Kazeem Ayegbo, is expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
