Residents of Kano State are reeling in shock and horror after unknown assailants executed a brutal midnight raid, wiping out an entire family of seven. The attack, which has sent waves of fear through the community, occurred in the Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of the Kano metropolis.

Details of the Gruesome Midnight Attack

The tragedy unfolded in the early hours of Friday, when armed men stormed the residence of Haruna Bashir located in the Dorayi Gidan Kwari area. The attackers used dangerous weapons to kill a 35-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children on the spot. The victims included her children: Maimuna (17), Aisha (16), Bashir (13), Abubakar (10), Faruk (7), and the toddler Abdussalam, who was just about one and a half years old.

Local sources indicate the assault was carried out with chilling efficiency, leaving no survivors from the targeted household. The bodies of all seven victims were later evacuated to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed their deaths.

A Community Paralyzed by Fear and Grief

The savage nature of the killings has left the Dorayi Chiranchi community deeply traumatized. Residents described it as one of the most horrifying incidents ever witnessed in the area. Kabiru Ibrahim, a local resident, voiced the collective shock and confusion, stating the community is struggling to comprehend the motive behind such an act.

"We are still in shock. Nobody can explain why an entire household was wiped out or who carried out such a terrible act," Ibrahim said. The quiet and sudden nature of the attack, with no clear immediate motive, has heightened anxiety and fear among neighbors, who now question their own security.

Police Launch Full-Scale Manhunt and Investigation

The Kano State Police Command has swiftly responded to the atrocity. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a comprehensive investigation.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been tasked with a thorough probe to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. CSP Kiyawa extended the command's condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Dorayi Chiranchi, assuring the public that the investigation has begun and justice will be served.

The police have urged residents to remain calm and to cooperate with security agencies by providing any useful information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for this heinous crime.
