The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Sanusi, has announced that he will personally oversee security operations in the suburbs, while directing all Area Commanders to concentrate on the city center. This strategic shift aims to address persistent security threats and improve public safety across the territory.
Commanders Ordered to Focus on City Centre
During a meeting with the 17 Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) under the Metro Area Command, CP Sanusi reviewed the current security landscape and outlined new operational strategies. He emphasized that the Area Commander Metro, as the supervising officer, must provide effective leadership and ensure strict adherence to the directives. The Commissioner warned that negligence would not be tolerated, and all officers are expected to deliver results within a specified timeframe.
Specific Crimes Targeted
The Commissioner expressed deep concern over a range of criminal activities plaguing the FCT, including traffic robberies, vehicle snatching at gunpoint, the menace of 'one chance' robberies, motorists driving against traffic, and commercial motorcyclists operating on major roads. Additionally, he highlighted issues such as vandalism of public and private property, illegal parking on highways, and traffic congestion as priority areas for enforcement.
