Female Event Usher Murdered in Port Harcourt Bolt Ride Attack, Police Launch Investigation
The Rivers State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into the brutal murder of a female event usher, identified as Special Bensingti, which occurred in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on March 1, 2026. According to police reports, Divine Anyanwu, residing at No. 9 Aliobi Drive, Elimgbu, Port Harcourt, visited the Abuloma Police Division on March 19, 2026, at approximately 7:00 PM to file a report. She stated that she and her friend, Special Bensingti, had boarded a Bolt ride from a hotel located on Emmanuel Road, off Odili Road, Port Harcourt. While en route along the Total Gospel area, also off Odili Road, they were ambushed by unknown armed assailants, who are suspected to have trailed them from the hotel.
The attackers, traveling in a tricycle, opened fire on the victims, resulting in Special Bensingti sustaining severe gunshot injuries. She was immediately rushed to BMH Hospital in Port Harcourt for emergency medical treatment. Tragically, on March 21, 2026, while still receiving care, she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty. The police have since deposited her body at a mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Abuloma Division, along with his team, conducted visits to both the scene of the incident and the hospital to gather evidence and assess the situation. In a statement to newsmen, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringi-Koku, confirmed the attack and provided updates on the investigation.
She announced that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet forensic investigation.
