The 25-year-old right-back, a product of Chelsea's academy, joined Fiorentina in September for a fee of £5 million, but his time in Italy was marred by injuries.
Minimal Playing Time and Injury Woes
Lamptey made his debut against Napoli, lasting only four minutes before being substituted. His only start for the club came against Como, where he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury just 21 minutes into the game. This left him sidelined for the majority of the season, missing a total of 45 matches due to various fitness issues.
History of Persistent Injuries
The Ghanaian international has a troubling injury history. Two years ago, he suffered three separate injuries that kept him out for 14 games for both club and country. During the 2023/24 campaign, he spent over 100 days in the treatment room for multiple problems. This followed a serious knee injury in the 2022/23 season, which also forced him out for more than 100 days.
