Four Arrested for Kidnapping, Murder in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has made significant arrests in its crackdown on violent crimes, apprehending four individuals suspected of involvement in separate cases of kidnapping and murder across the state.

Intelligence-Led Operations Net Kidnap Syndicate

In a statement released on 15 January 2026 by the command's Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, it was revealed that the suspects were captured at different locations. These arrests were the result of intelligence-driven missions aimed at curbing violent crime and restoring public trust in security.

During one operation, the police successfully rescued a kidnap victim identified as Hussinat Abubakar. Three suspects were arrested for their alleged role in her abduction. Preliminary investigations indicate the suspects are part of a criminal syndicate operating within Oyo State and neighboring areas.

The suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime. Police efforts are now focused on tracking down other members of the syndicate who remain at large.

The rescued victim is currently receiving medical care at a hospital, with authorities confirming her condition is stable. The police spokesperson stated that all suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Separate Arrest in Polytechnic Student Clash

In a related development, the command confirmed the arrest of another suspect, Olatunji David Segun, in connection with a violent clash involving students of Michael Koleoso Polytechnic. The incident reportedly led to the death of a student.

Ayanlade explained that the arrest followed a swift response by police operatives deployed to the area after reports of the disturbance broke out.

"Further investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances and motive behind the crime, as well as to identify other individuals who may have participated in the violence," he stated.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Security

The Police Public Relations Officer assured residents of the state of the command's unwavering commitment to tackling criminal activities and safeguarding lives and property. He called on the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid in crime prevention and suspect arrest.

"The command remains resolute in its determination to rid the state of criminal elements and will not relent in its efforts to bring perpetrators of violent crimes to justice," Ayanlade emphasized.

He issued a stern warning that the police would deal decisively with any individual or group whose actions threaten public peace and security. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command's emergency lines.
